ABOUT CHRIS

A behaviour support plan only helps if it works in real life: at home, in the classroom, and with the people who support someone every day. That practical focus is what Chris brings to his work at Central Coast Family Psychology.

Chris has over 20 years of experience supporting children and young people. He holds a Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney and taught in public and independent schools and in education units within NSW Juvenile Justice and Corrective Services. He knows how classrooms run and how schools make decisions, so he writes plans that teachers and school staff can actually put into practice. He has spent much of his career bringing schools, carers, case managers and support workers together, first as an Education Consultant for children in Out-of-Home Care and now in behaviour support. The aim is for everyone around a person to respond consistently.

Chris is trained in the impact of autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and early childhood trauma on learning and behaviour. He works with children and young people with autism, ADHD and anxiety. He is also a certified PEERS® social skills trainer and an accredited Rock and Water facilitator, so his support often goes beyond reducing behaviours of concern to building the skills and confidence behind them.

His approach is strengths-based and relational. Before education he had a 12-year career in corporate sales in Australia and the United States, and he brings that same straightforward, listen-first style to his work with families.
